New Frontiers 1
The primary material used in Extra-Terrestrial Terrains is recycled expanded plastic made from polystyrene, a packaging material that usually ends up in landfills. The plastic is set on fire and molded using compressed air.
New Frontiers 1 & 2 were the first pieces created in this medium back in 2003. Using the backs of recycled set flats these pieces were filled in with foam material, paint and other mediums on-hand and melted together. Over the course of 10 years these pieces changed as I revisited them, layering in more material. They were sold together back in 2013.
